Are we already starting to awaken some of the horrors of the ancient hothouse ocean? Are dangerous, sea and land life killing, strains of primordial hydrogen sulfide producing bacteria starting to show up in the increasingly warm and oxygen-starved waters of the US West Coast? This week’s disturbing new reports of odd-smelling, purple-colored waves appearing along the Oregon coastline are a sign that it may be starting to happen.

Purple Waves

(Purple waves wash over the Oregon beach of Neskowin on August 15. A form of hydrogen sulfide consuming bacteria is known to color water purple. Is this an indicator that the deadly gas is present in Oregon’s waters? Image source: Jeanine Sbisa and Beach Connection.)

A Dangerous Beauty

Oregon beachgoers and ocean researchers alike are flummoxed. There’s something strange in the water. Something that’s coloring the waves of Oregon’s beaches purple even as the off-shore waters are painted…

I used to have a much larger audience ten or so years ago.

I came to this because of a pop-up problem that wouldn’t go away, in spite of having a good firewall, and a decent anti-virus program. After performing a Yahoo search of the problem, I decided on a site, then called Computer Cops, later changed to CastleCops to look for help in getting rid of this annoyance.

Although I found the name a little unnerving, I found myself hanging around a bit, trying to get a feel for this new experience called a forum. One of the newer things on the site was a program called Folding@Home, which if you don’t know, has absolutely nothing to do with computer online security – at least not directly. Having recently discovering F@H myself and starting my own team, I became interested.

A discussion started in the F@H forum about posting stats (which I participated in) but we weren’t able to do a simple “copy & paste” of the data. Paul Laudanski, owner of CastleCops saw the problem and pulled a rabbit out of his hat and introduced table code to the forum.

Despite having been in the N(ever) A(gain) V(olunteer) Y(ourself), somehow I managed to get drafted into not only posting the teams stats, but also writing articles about the progress. This proved to be popular and the team grew from about 15 starting members to over one hundred in about a year. Meanwhile, Paul and his wife asked me to host the forum.

One of the articles I wrote at this time concerned a new “mystery” illness, called Morgellon’s Disease. Little was known then. The condition was characterized by lesions and the emergence of threads from the body. Outbreaks were observed to occur in clusters! Apparently in the ten years since, main stream news still reports little is known about this sometimes debilitating condition. From an April 2015 article in Time about singer Joni Mitchell’s struggles with this ailment, Mysterious Morgellons Disease Explained:

Morgellons is not very well understood and is controversial within the medical community. It’s clear people who say they have Moregellons are suffering from something, but many doctors think it’s a psychological rather than physical condition. Research trying to determine what the disorder is has been very inconclusive.

Well I call bullshit!

There is valuable research ONGOING, some of it by the victims of Morgellon’s!!! Much is being learned.

If the title of this entry (and the following video) didn’t put you off, and you’re still here, I urge you to take the 2 hours and ten minutes to watch the entire video. It will all make sense in the end. Promise!

Know this: we’ve all been exposed to Morgellon’s. The reason for this is beyond evil. It’s diabolical!

  • Seven years ago, I uploaded my first video to YouTube.

Several years ago, the Roller Coaster Tycoon series of games were very popular. With the third in the series gamers were able to finally ride their creations – at least virtually.

Utilizing a third party creation, it became possible to virtually ride the coasters from the first two parts in the series. However a way to make a video still didn’t exist.

To make the video of the ride I called “HiJackThis” took many screen captures, converting to a .gif format, then animating, then converting to a video format (avi), then using Movie Maker, again converting to a .wmv format which I could upload.

In Roller Coaster Tycoon (the 1st one), I named a park CastleCops Park and designed the park you see in the video. CastleCops was an online security site, and HiJackThis was a tool frequently used. Sections of the park were named after CastleCops’ personnel, and a son of the owner. I also named others after some of my children.

The park was never completed when I put the video together, and unfortunately, many rides and other features would not display in the 3rd party application used to virtually ride the (limited) amount of rides.

I received criticism for HiJackThis as it was NOT a ride I designed.

In spite of that, a lot of effort went into designing the park, the few rides I did create, the screen captures and the making of the video.

So keep your hands inside the car. NO STANDING. Enjoy the ride!

Evil is just another way of defining exploitation and being taken advantage of. Only ignorance can be exploited and taken advantage of. Ignorant people have become victims of evil. An aware person can never be taken advantage of nor can they be a victim.

Sky Valley Chronicle Washington State News | BREAKING NEWS | “WAVE” OF STUDENT SUICIDES AT CORNELL UNIVERSITY

(ITHACA, NEW YORK) — What is described as “a wave of suicides” at Cornell University in the past two semesters is a serious “public health crisis,” according to the school’s mental health initiatives director Timothy Marchell who added the school was “not out of the woods yet.”

The Ithaca New York Police Department reported four student suicides during the fall 2009 semester, and at least two over the last two months.

It’s a departure for Charlies Web Teams to publish this story, but I felt the need.

Recent reports of two celebrity children dying at their own hands made the news and I lost my cousin under similar circumstances last month as well. Soon after tweeting about my cousin, I received a new follower on Twitter. Now that person has started her own blog here,
    I am a survivor… here’s my story on Blogger!

All of this prompted me to add the SocialVibe widget for “To Write Love On Her Arms” a charity which supports suicide prevention. While not a typical Charlies Web venture and NOT distributed computing, folks can click through to SocialVibe and help me support these efforts. While they are there, they may find a charity they would like to help as well.

I found myself drawn to the report of the missing actor immediately for reasons I could not voice.

I’d been busy fine tuning the various social-networking accounts I’d recently set up and the associated apps that went with them when the update to Twitter first appeared – probably from CNN or one of the local TV channels I monitor.

We soon learned his name, Andrew Koenig and that he appeared on the T.V. show, Growing Pains. I did not yet equate the last name with the actor we knew and loved as Pavel Chekov from the original Star Trek! Has it really been forty years?!

I was somewhat surprised that one of Lost‘s producers, Damon Lindelof, took a swipe at the media for:

DamonLindelof: Do you have to mention he played “Boner” in every damn news story? Seriously. Have some respect.

and forgetting to not bite the hand that feeds him. Being in the business, he should know how these things work.

I learned that Andrew’s Dad, Walter had a website, but learned nothing new there, so I bookmarked it for future reference. It wasn’t until I ran into Levar Burton‘s tweet when it all came together – the loss, the camaraderie, and family, real or imagined, extended or otherwise.

levarburton: Offering prayers for Walter & Judy Koenig as well as their beloved son, Andrew…

Walter and Judy, my condolences for your loss.
